California Abortion

As a teacher, I am occasionally confronted by teens looking for California abortion clinics. Unfortunately, the way that the law is written, I am not allowed to tell them about California abortions, but I can send them over to Planned Parenthood, or at least send them to their guidance counselor who can give them information about the options that are available to them. This is a pretty liberal state, but even so, it has a nasty, conservative underbelly. A teen girl who gets herself in to trouble, either through an accident, or through not being all that careful with what she does, can have a heck of a time getting an abortion in California, or any state for that matter. If she comes from a religious family with prejudices against birth control, a California abortion can be even tougher on her, and that is no lie. And yet, why should she not be able to do what she wants with her body? I say if a teen is old enough to make wrong decisions, she is probably old enough to try to fix them by herself, but that is not what our crazy country is saying.

If you are thinking of getting a California abortion, the best thing to do is to go to Planned Parenthood. No matter what age you are, Planned Parenthood California can give you all of the info that you need about birth control, California abortion clinics, and any other reproductive issues that you may or may not have. In California abortion is no laughing matter. Although it is a pretty left leaning place, there are a lot of right wing wackos on unemployment with nothing to do but heckle people who are trying to do what it is their right to do at California abortion clinics. And then there is the expense of abortions. They are outrageous - far beyond the means of the ordinary citizen. But do people do something reasonable, like make a safe, humane alternative such as the morning after pill available over the counter. Of course not. They do not even think about doing that. It has gotten absolutely crazy. There are even right wing groups pretending to give abortion info for teens, and really just handing them a bunch of propaganda meant to make them feel guilty and break down. I swear, if things get any crazier here I am going to move to somewhere sane like Canada, and that is a fact!
